Travis Spears- Senior

I've known the Spears family for a long long time. I shot Randall Spears' senior portraits a couple of years ago, and it feels like yesterday that that took place. His brother, Travis, is now graduating in May. It's so weird to see these guys grow up so fast. Wow. That sounded very old lady of me. Anywayyyyy, Travis is the pitcher for the Monterey baseball team and graduates this year with plans to go to Baylor in the fall. I'm excited for him to get out of Lubbock to meet and see new faces. We started the day at Moegle Field where Travis has played MANY a baseball game. ;) In it to win it, you can tell Travis is hoping for state. "We gotta take a picture in front of the State Champions sign." I don't know much about highschool baseball, but I DO know that I'm rooting for Monterey this year. Sorry Coronado, you should've booked me for senior portraits before Travis. ;) Travis' parents also own Spears Furniture Stores where we took a few photos. For those who know me, you know I'm very sentimental and mushy gushy. So I LOVED the fact that every place we went on Travis' shoot had significant meaning: the field, the old Spears' furniture building, his brother's dog, his grandad's fence.. SO great! Here are a few from our cloudy morning together.

Kyle Johnson

"That Kyle Johnson is just the NICEST boy." I hear this all the time from my mom. She works at University Medical Center and has a lot of nursing students come through her unit. She "mock-interviewed" Kyle to be a NICU nurse (which is NOT what Kyle wants to do- haha) Kyle told me my mom asked him, "What is leadership?" and he answered with some of his professor's wisdom from one of his classes at Tech, which I thought was brilliant. Kyle confidently answered, "Be the duck." He further explained to me that the duck is visibly smooth sailing while kicking away underwater to swim. I just LOVED this analogy. A lot of times, the "leaders" we know are making large splashes to stay afloat, and it causes others to panic. I think... no, I KNOW, that Kyle has the leadership qualities in him to "be the duck". He has such a calm about him while making others feel so important. He graduates from Texas Tech Health Science Center in May, and I can't wait to see what he does with his life! Wreck 'em! ;) (Be sure and check out Kyle's "OH MY GOSH! I'M GRADUATING!" photo at the very end! haha)

Alison Howard is... a Howard: goofy, but absolutely precious. Her sister, Kendra has been by my side since we were tinyyyy preschoolers. We all grew up together, and had frequent sleepovers with Alison and her best friends..sleepovers involving "the oreo game", macaroni and cheese, disney classics, glowsticks & techno music, cereal in the middle of the night, backyard swimming, late night wal-mart trips, and countless other things. We had a BLAST together, laughing for hours. This shoot brought back so many memories. Her laugh sparked "the good ol' days", and it MADE my day.. & week. Check these out. :)

Phil&Sheanna- Engagement

Phil & Sheanna rock! haha We scheduled their engagements very tentatively. They talked about how it would be cool if the engagements were "winter", the bridals were "spring/summer", and the wedding in early fall, so we scheduled the engagement session on "the day it snows until it gets too late". (This probably doesn't make any sense) Wellllll, every time it snowed (which was a lot this year in lbk), our schedules NEVER matched. Either someone was working, someone was out of town, or there were crazy inconveniences keeping us from awesome snowball fight photos. All this to say, our brilliant plan was crushed by Lubbock weather's indecisiveness and busy schedules, BUT we got some great shots anyway...in the sun! Here they are! Comments are loved. :)
