"What's a corn fritter?"

I have to brag and say that I have the BEST friends on the planet. Katie was my roommate, ally, companion, supporter, prayer warrior, classmate, darkroom partner, and encourager from YWAM back in 2007 and 2008. I flew to California to visit my bear and second shoot a wedding with her last March. If ya want a funny story, click THIS to see an old old blog post from Cali. ;) We made it a "goal" to see each other at least once a year after that, and this year, it was a complete success. Kate Noelle was flown out to Texas to surprise me for my birthday, and it was the BEST birthday present. On day three, we decided to take two of greatest friends out for a little shoot.

When Katie and I were driving around all over Lubbock, (making occasional stops like Sonic, wheat fields, the drive-in, & Home Cafe) she would spot something and say, "OH MY GOSH! BETSY! What is THAT?" to which I would reply, "Umm, that's an alley?". Hours would go by and I'd hear it again, "oh oh. Stop! That's awesome. What's that?" I would just smile and say, "Katie..that's still an alley. They're behind every block of homes." "WE HAVE TO SHOOT THERE!" she said. I never imagined shooting in an alley in Lubbock would be so beautiful, but it was. We had so much fun photographing each other (even though I didn't get NEAR enough of Katie..next time). Here are a few from the day. To see more from Kate's point of view, see her work at http://www.katenoelleblog.com. Don't forget to watch the video. It's pretty incredible.. CLICK FOR VIDEO. Enjoyyyyy! ...and Katie? Come visit us again soon. Texas loves you.
