Evan Johnson | Senior

This guy. Man, I can't believe he's a senior already. I played volleyball with his older sister all through high school. It feels like yesterday Evan was just a little runt of a little brother attending a million volleyball tournaments and matches. Welp, he's not. In fact, Evan has his own matches to attend and win. He's a tennis player. Toward the end of the shoot, we were able to shoot around on the tennis courts in his tennis gear, and his mom shared that his sweatshirt had some significance. When I asked what the importance was, he shared this:

"There were about 10 thousand people at this camp two summers ago. They gave scholarships to about 100 people out of those kids. The next winter, those 100 went down the day after Christmas to compete: 8 spots for guys, 8 for girls. So i got a spot! The next June, the team went down to the ranch to train for a week. We then went to Wimbledon for a week, met the top players in the world, and sat in the front on Centre court to watch the tournament. It was absolutely incredible. We then went to Liverpool for a week to train with an academy. Then to Hamilton, Scotland to train with their academy. We then went to Oban, Scotland to train with their academy and play a tournament. We then went back to London for a few days and back home! The whole experience was over a month! It was awesome! I definitely improved a lot! I played a lot of incredible players, including the number 212 player in the world! (I played a lot of high ranked players, but that was the highest) So to play a professional that was ranked 212 in a match (this was in Liverpool) was incredible!"

Uhh yeah.. talk about a chance of a lifetime!

Evan & his mom. I guess I can brag about her a little bit too. In addition to being the sweetest woman on earth, she also played tennis at Texas Tech University. Like Mom, like son.
